Korean Style Spicy Tofu


  • 1 box of firm tofu


  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon of sugar

  • 1 scallion

  • 2 cloves of garlic

  • 1 tablespoon of Gochujang (korean spicy paste)

  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil

  • 1/2 cup of water


  1. Put the entire block of tofu on a plate and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Then, put some heavy objects, such as a pan with a few cans, on top for 30 minutes to squeeze out the excess water.

  2. Mince the garlic and scallion. Add soy sauce, sugar, gochujang, sesame oil and water. Mix well.

  3. Pat dry the tofu. Cut it into rectangles and pan fry on medium heat until both sides are cripsy and golden.

  4. Pour in the sauce. Bring it to a boil and braise on low heat until the sauce thickens.
